What is Dry Needling?

Dry Needling is a manual therapy technique used to access deep, hard-to-reach tissues to help relieve pain symptoms and initiate the healing process in dysfunctional tissues and joints. Dry needles are named so because they are ‘dry’ and do not contain solutions, injections, nor medications. They are thin, hollow, and help to release deep trigger points in afflicted areas.

Most patients do not feel pain with the needle insertion nor during this technique. However, as the trigger point is released, muscles may tense up before relaxing, and this is where the healing begins.

The release of trigger points improves pain symptoms, range of motion, and tissue function. Dry needling is a popular and modern Western medicine practice that is supported by research.
